Action Figure Review: Wolfsbane from Marvel Legends Series by Hasbro

It's actually been a little over two months since I last reviewed a figure from this series! Hey, I was busy this summer and a lot of my time has been spent prepping for 31 Days of Toy Terror. Wolfsbane's not the only werewolf I've been hanging around with as of late. She's definitely the most heroic, though. Getting Wolfsbane, AKA Rahne Sinclair, in her X-Factor uniform is definitely a very welcome addition to my collection. Hasbro previously released a Wolfsbane headsculpt and hands as a pack in with the Walgreens' exclusive Dani Moonstar figure back in 2019 (Dani also came with a Karma headsculpt as well), but this is the first time she's gotten an action figure of her own since the Toy Bix pre-Marvel Legends days. This series was a bit of a mishmash with two absolutely X-Men/Mutant characters (Cable and Wolfsbane), two X-Men/ Mutant Adjacent characters (Ka-Zar and the Zabu Build-a-Figure), and four other figures (an Iron Man variant, Red Widow, Ikaris, and Black Winter) and I'm kind of wondering if there was ever a point where Hasbro was going to include some Deadpool figures in here to capitalize off of Deadpool and Wolverine but instead went with making them their own series (the Deadpool Legacy Collection). Anyways, Rahne is a fascinating and complex character who can transform into a wolf or something more akin to a werewolf and has been a member of multiple X-Men adjacent teams such as the New Mutants, Excalibur, X-Factor, and X-Force. Ready to check out Rahne? Then let's get stated after the break...

The Facts:

Height: 6 1/8ths inches

Articulation: Swivel/hinge ankles, double-hinged knees, swivel thighs, ball-jointed hips, balljointed mid-torso, swivel/hinge shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel/hinge wrists, hinged neck, and a ball-jointed head.

Accessories: 4 swappable hands and the torso of Zabu BAF.

Non-Scalper Price: $25 dollars

The Positives:

* With dark orange fur and a yellow and blue X-Factor unitard, Wolfsbane is a fairly colorful figure. Her unitard doesn't look like anything that any other member of the team couldn't wear and has shoulder pads, a triple buckled belt, a large X-Factor logo above the left breast, and a zipper and pull below the right shoulder. There's a lot of detail here which looks great as it contrasts with her fur covered arms and legs. Her arms even have some tufts of fur on them that's more reddish in color and that looks thicker.
* Like so many comic characters, especially those with mutant and non-human characteristics, Rahne has been drawn many ways. Sometimes she looks more anthropomorphic with more traditionally human features while other times she's far more wolf-like. This one kind of splits the difference with extreme hair that flares up into peaks, like Wolverine. She's got long pointy ears and sideburns that go all the way to her chin. Her face is more human looking than lupine, though she does look pretty pissed. Wolfsbane is definitely ready for a fight it seems.

* Here's a shot from the back so you can see the fur tufts on her arms. They're pretty well done and definitely help sell the effect that she's furry and not just orange.

* Her legs are also furry all the way down with tufts behind her shins and long clawed toes.

* As best as I can tell, Wolfsbane is a completely new figure. I don't recognize anything, at least. She moves pretty well and most of her joints are smooth and have a great range of motion. The shoulders were a bit stuff at first but they worked loose given a bit of time and some motion. She's not super articulated where she can take wolf-like waking poses or anything but I'm not disappointed with what we got here.

* Wolfsbane comes with two sets of hands: A pair of claws and a pair of fists. They swap out easily and give you a few options for posing and displaying.

* It's kind of getting less and less common to see Marvel Legends figures as part of Build-a-Figure sets these days, so it's nice when you still get a figure as part of a series. Wolfsbane comes with the largest part of the Zabu BAF, his torso. I'm getting closer to reviewing him as I did purchase every figure in the set with a piece so I could build him, selling off the ones I didn't want. Red Widow and Ikaris sold quickly but I still have Black Winter. Does anyone want a Black Winter? $18 shipped and he's yours.

Wolfsbane is another solid release from this series of figures. Besides Zabu there were only three figures I wanted but, fortunately, they've all been pretty good. I do wish Rahne had come with an alternate portrait to change up her expression (it's pretty extreme here) or even something cool like a slug figure of her as a regular wolf (which usually wasn't all that huge). She does get the massive piece of Zabu, though, so that's a plus. Hasbro has been slowly but steadily building the  1990s X-factor and Wolfsbane really makes the team feel whole. She's a Great figure that feels quite unique in the line.
