Action Figure Review: P-131 Thunderbolt from Final Faction by Greenbrier International

I've reviewed two of the new Kharn accessory packs this week so why don't we give a boon to the good guys and check out one of the Alpha Team 1 kits? Today I'm going to check out the P-131 Thunderbolt set, an upgrade pack for the P-131 Drone figure. The P-131 is a newer figure (I just reviewed it last month), so hopefully it'll soon be easy to find both the figure and the accessory pack on store shelves at the same time. The Thunderbolt kit arms your P-131 with two shoulder mounted missile launchers and some airfoils to give the drone some lift. Let's take a look at this set after the break...

The Facts:

Scale: 1/18th

Includes: 2 launchers, 2 airfoils, and 4 mounts.

Non-Scalper Price: $1.25

The Positives:

* The stinger missile launchers attach to two mounts and can fit on both shoulders of the P-131 (there's a hole on the shoulder of the drone that these plug into). They look pretty neat with a very realistic aesthetic to them (you know, when compared to the techno-organic look of the Kharn armaments) and they can swivel up and down and rotate at the base.

* The kit also has two cyclone airfoils with it. These plug into two mounts that attach to the sides of the P-131 and are supposed to allow the drone to gain aerial abilities. They definitely make the drone look larger, too, which give it a more menacing appearance.
* The cyclone airfoils and the stinger missiles do have articulation points where they attach to the mounts and where they connect to the P-131 drone, so that's kind of cool.

The Negatives:

* The joints are kind of funky, though. The stingers are really tight where they attach to the mount while the airfoils are kind of loose where they attach to the mount. Kind of frustrating.
The P-131 Thunderbolt is probably the weakest of the accessory sets. It's not bad and it does really supplement the P-131 drone nicely, but it's just not as exciting to me as the other sets. I'd give it a solid Good, which is a perfectly average rating. I did buy two of these sets, however, as I picked up two of the P-131s, but I'll probably only use the airfoils one of them. I imagine these would look pretty cool if painted, however, so if you're one who is inclined to customize your stuff then go for it. For $2.50 you can get the drone and the accessory pack. Compare that to scaled miniatures and you're really getting a bargain.

As mentioned above, I've also reviewed the P-131 drone itself. For more Final Faction reviews check out the following:
