Action Figure Review: Evil-Lyn #86 from POP! Retro Toys: Masters of the Universe by Mattel

Funko has put out a staggering amount of Masters of the Universe merchandise over the past two years. So much so that they're even revisiting characters who aren't He-Man, She-Ra, and Skeletor! Today I'm checking out Evil-Lyn #86, the second Evil-Lyn POP! vinyl released by Funko. The first Evil-Lyn POP! vinyl was part of the POP! Television line and was based on the Filmation version of the character but now that MOTU released fall under the POP! Retro Toys banner we have a straight vintage version. This is a really sharp looking POP! vinyl who can work with your Masters of the Universe collection or your Simpsons POP! collection. Haha. OK, I kid. Anyways, let's take a look at Evil-Lyn after the break...

The Facts:

Height: 3 3/4ths inches

Articulation: Swivel head

Accessories: Display stand

Non-Scalper Price: $9-$11 dollars

The Positives:

* Evil-Lyn is a vintage vision for sure! Bright yellow skin, dark and light blue clothing, and the physique of a warrior! Evil-Lyn's in a fairly neutral stance with her wand held out in her right hand, her left hand seeming to be ready to cast a spell, and her legs in a "ready for battle" stance. She does stand OK on her own though the included stand makes her far more stable. Of course, her head rotates like most other POP! vinyls.

* Evil-Lyn's outfit is extremely detailed. It's mind boggling that Funko still hasn't made a Teela POP!, isn't it? That's crazy! The vintage Teela would have the same outfit as Evil-Lyn (though Teela might be wearing her serpent armor) since the two characters shared a body in the vintage line. The detail is excellent here and the paintwork looks quite nice on the intricate details on the front.

* Evil-Lyn's headdress is pretty cool with a little skull on top. Do you think that's a decorative piece or is it the skull from a little tiny humanoid creature? Her green eye shadow definitely shows of the bad girl look, too. She's got the style for sure!

* Funko did an excellent job on Evil-Lyn's wand. It looks just like the accessory for the vintage toy with some sharp detail on the bones holding the orb on top in place.

* While Evil-Lyn stands OK on her own Funko did include a clear plastic stand. I kind of wish all POP! vinyls included stands to help them stay upright (even though they don't all need them).

Evil-Lyn turned out to be a pretty awesome POP! vinyl. She's definitely one of my favorites of 2021 for sure. The vintage look is incredible and her colors really just pop off the shelf. I always say that about MOTU characters but, c'mon, their color schemes are just super iconic and eye catching. Funko did a great job on her and she's a Great and a 1/2 POP! vinyl. Now what I'm looking for is Teela. C'mon, Funko! You've been making MOTU product since 2013. That's longer than my 8 year old daughter has been alive! How is there no Teela yet? How? How?!!!!
Khannnnn!!!!!!!!

If you're a fan of Evil-Lyn I've also reviewed the Masters of the Universe Classics Evil-Lyn, the M.U.S.C.L.E. Evil-Lyn from the Masters of the Universe green boxed set, Tweeterhead's Evil-Lyn bust, the ReAction Evil-Lyn, Super7's neo-vintage Evil-Lyn, the Monogram International Evil-Lyn bag clip, the standard Evil-Lyn POP! + Pez dispenser and the Evil-Lyn (Metallic) POP! + Pez Dispenser, the Rock Candy Evil-Lyn, the Eternia Minis Evil-Lyn, the MOTU Origins Evil-Lyn, the Mega Construx Evil-Lyn and Evil-Lyn (series 2) and Mega Construx Heroes Evil-Lyn.

  1. Didn't realize Funko has stands for some of these. They can definitely use them. Cool Evil-Lyn figure.

    1. Yeah, most of the women come with stands. They're sometimes tough to see in the package so make sure you don't toss them out!
