Toy Review: Battle Armor He-Man from Masters of the Universe: Figural Bag Clips from Monogram International

Monogram's new series of Masters of the Universe: Figural Bag Clips has two chase variant figures which are obscured on the back of the package (it just calls them Exclusive A and Exclusive B) but I'm going to tell you who those exclusives are: Battle Armor He-Man and Battle Armor Skeletor! I've always loved the Battle Armor variants in MOTU and I was really looking forward to these figures. I ended up ordering them individually as I never pulled them from the packs I ordered and, ultimately, this seemed like the less expensive option. Today I'm going to check out Battle Armor He-Man, who is definitely my favorite of the two. I've always loved this outfit and while I'm not sure if it was my first He-Man figure ( I really can't remember if I got the original He-Man or Battle Armor first)n I feel like I've had him about as long as I can remember. This guy captures the spirit of the original figure (although he is toting a shield with Battle Armor He-Man didn't include) and you can take him wherever you want now! Let's check out Battle Armor He-Man after the break...

 The Facts:

Height: 2 1/4ths inches

Articulation: None

Accessories: None

Non-Scalper Price: $7-8 dollars

 The Positives:

* While the head looks just like the standard He-Man bag clip, the Battle Armor He-Man has a completely new "body sculpt" depicting his epic Battle Armor. I love how the details look (they're all "etched" into the rubbery figure), particularly the highlights on He-Man's belt. Also, he's toting the ax, which is my favorite of He-Man's weapons. It looks so cool!

* Rather than having a metal key-ring, these have a plastic clip. They're marketed as bag clips, so I guess the intention is to display them on a backpack or satchel of sorts. I've actually been hanging them from screw in hooks which are screwed into the front edges of one of my display shelves. Also, check out armor details on He-Man's back. You can even see that he's got the larger bracer on his left wrist!

Battle Armor He-Man is my favorite clip in the collection. I love the design and details in this little guy! While they're blind bagged (with a cardboard sleeve around them to make it harder to tell who you're getting), which I don't like, these are definitely unusual little MOTU collectibles that kind of remind me of the old Zipper Clips from the 1980s.  I love seeing the fun, colorful MOTU crew in a variety of mediums and the Monogram International bag clips deliver for me. They're perhaps a bit pricey for what they are but this guy absolutely rocks. He's a Great and a 1/2 little figure and the winner of the line!

He-Man/ Prince Adam is one of my favorite characters and I've reviewed so many action figures and toys based on him that he has his own review archive. Check out Fabulous Secret Powers for an abundance of He-Man reviews!
