Collectible Review: Mer-Man from Geeki Tikis by Beeline Creative, Inc.

Earlier this week I checked out Battle Cat from the Masters of the Universe Geeki Tikis by Beeline Creative, Inc. and today I'm checking out another mug from the set: Mer-Man! I really like these as they look fantastic on display and I'm going to flat out say that I think Mer-Man might be the best mug in the set. The color, the sculpt, and just the general idea of Mer-Man as a Tiki mug is just too perfect! Plus, you can use this to drink out of and when you gargle you'll sound like Mer-Man! Let's check this one out after the break...

The Facts:

Height: 7 inches

Capacity: 18 fl oz.

Material: Ceramic

Non-Scalper Price: $20-$30 dollars

The Positives:

* Mer-Man is another of the MOTU Geeki Tikis that doesn't have any additional paint applications. Instead, the overall watery looking greenish-blue color is what you get. It gorgeous, though, as it's so fitting for Mer-Man and it just brings out all of the details. This is an amazing looking rendition of Mer-Man and I think it fits in so well in the Tiki mug style.

* Here's a close-up of the front of the mug, showing off Mer-Man's sharp teeth, his fishy eyes, and his cool armor. I like the style as it's a bit of a mixture between the vintage Mer-Man and the cross sell art/ Filmation Mer-Man.

* From the side you can see the sculpted design that makes this appear like a wooden carving. There's a nice amount of detail showing off Mer-Man's gloves and his shoulder pads as well.

* The back has more scales and more wood carving detail. Beeline Creative really did a nice job on these. I don't plan to start collecting Tiki mugs or anything but I'd absolutely buy more MOTU ones of this quality if they wanted to release them.

* On the right side you can see that Mer-Man is carrying his trident. Again, excellent detail and it fits so well with the Tiki mug theme.

The Negatives:

* So... Mer-Man has a little imperfection above his left eye. It doesn't seem to be a chip or anything as the ceramic feels perfectly smooth. I'm really not sure what happened. It's not terrible and it really doesn't take much away from the overall look but I felt it was worth mentioning.

I'm going to flat out say that I love this mug. Mer-Man isn't one of my favorite MOTU or anything but my gosh does he just stand out from the pack here. The color is perfect, the design is perfect, and seeing him as a Tiki mug just seems like the perfect melding of character and collectible. I've mentioned this already but I don't have any plans to drink from these; they're simply going to be a unique part of my ever expanding Masters of the Universe collection. These are really eye-catching and Mer-Man gets an Epic rating from me. This is one of the coolest MOTU items I own!
