I'm already working on my annual Best of The Year awards, which should hit around the end of January. Right now I'm wrapping up the 2016 product releases that I've picked up and Kanan Jarrus has the distinct honor of the last POP! vinyl I've picked up from 2016. While I'll certainly be going back and picking up the rest of the Ghost crew as I find them, this is definitely the last POP! vinyl I purchased in 2016. Let's take a closer look at this super cool cowboy Jedi after the break...
The Facts:
Height: 4 1/4 inches
Articulation: Bobbling head
Accessories: Display stand
Non-Scalper Price: $10 dollars
The Positives:
* Kanan has a pretty good likeness. Funko works their voodoo magic again, somehow taking a really standard looking head and giving it enough detail (such as Kanan's pulled back hair, severe eyebrows, and goatee) to make it seem like a dead ringer for the character. The Force is strong with this heavily stylized likeness!
* I love Kanan's outfit, and Funko has done a great job with it. There are quite a few different colors here and the paintwork is fairly sharp and clean.
* Kanan's also packing his special lightsaber that can break down into a few different component for secret storage. It's fully ignited and ready for battle here, though, and it looks fantastic. Love that translucent blue blade!
* You can see both Kanan's Rebel Phoenix logo on his right shoulder armor and the DL-18 blaster pistol he has holstered here. I love these small details and Funko usually handles them quite well!
* Like the other Star Wars POP! vinyls, Kanan comes with a display
stand. It's a simple black plastic stand with the Star Wars logo in
silver across the front, but it nicely holds the figure in place and
looks great on display. I love the uniformity of these!
The Negatives:
* Like Hera, Kanan has the tendency to look up a bit. While it's nowhere as big of a problem with him as was with Hera, it's still a odd side effect of the use of a bobbling head rather than the classic POP! swivel joint.
Kanan is another Great POP! vinyl. The Rebels subeset (sadly, other than Hera) seems to have been pretty impressive. I still need to track down Zeb, Chopper, and Ezra, but as it stands I'm very happy with these. Rebels really appeals to me and I'm glad Funko's jumping in and getting some more merchandise out for the show. Maybe they'll get around to doing Kanan's current look in season 3 at some point, right?
I've actually reviewed a few other Kanan Jarrus action figures: The Hero Mashers Kanan Jarrus, the 6-inch Black Series Kanan Jarrus, the microfigure from the Rebellion Rising set, and the 3 3/4 inch single packed Rebels Kanan Jarrus.
