It's time for another Franksgiving review! Today I'm checking out another figure from Funko's newest series of Universal Monsters POP! vinyls featuring a unique aesthetic that reminds me of the look of comic book art from the 1970s. They're bright, bold, and feature some unique shading and colors that set them apart from the usual darker, often greyscale, palette of the Universal Monsters. I reviewed the Bride of Frankenstein from this set on Halloween for 2024's 31 Days of Toy Terror Takes the Universe so now it's nice to have Frankenstein/ the Frankenstein Monster to go along with her. Ready to check out this eye-catching tribute to Boris Karloff's classic take on the character? Then join me after the break...
The Facts:
Height: 4 inches
Articulation: Swivel head.
Accessories: None
Non-Scalper Price: $12-$13 dollars
The Packaging:
* I rarely leave my Funko POP! vinyls boxed, and I'm not doing it with these guys either, but I love the orange and black packaging this set comes in. It looks great and just screams Halloween. The set also includes the Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the Wolfman. The Wolf Man is an exclusive through Funko.
The Positives:
* Frankenstein's Monster (for simplicity, I'm just going to call him Frankenstein) is standing upright with is arms out in front of him, a pretty decent Frankenstein pose that gives you something to ponder: What's he getting ready to do? Reach out and do something gentle or throttle someone? His stapled together head rotates, like most POP! vinyls, so you can give him a bit of a pose on your shelf.
This subset of brightly colored Universal Monsters is really a fun collection and Frankenstein's Monster is a Great vinyl figure. Affordable, well made, and just a lot of fun with an eye-catching appearance. I love him! I'm hopeful that Funko will do a few more of the Universal Monsters in this style, particularly the Invisible Man, the Phantom of the Opera, and Mummy. They look great as a collection and visually "pop" more than most POPs out there.
If you're a fan of Frankenstein/ Frankenstein's Monster/ the Creature, I've reviewed some other Frankenstein themed items including the Figure Obscura Frankenstein's Creature, Funko's ReAction Frankenstein, the Sideshow Frankenstein, the Imaginext Frankenstein's Monster, various monsters from the Playmobil Take Along Haunted House and Vampire and Monster set, the Monster in My Pocket The Monster, Frankenstein's Monster from Mezco's Tower of Fear, Grumpy Bear as Frankenstein #1627 from Funko, the mini Frankenstein from Mighty Max Escapes from Skull Dungeon, Frankenstein from Monster Force, Charlie Franken-Brown from Just Play's Peanuts, and the Real Ghostbusters' Frankenstein Monster. There's also Frankenghost from The Worst, who's the Ghost of Frankenstein('s monster). Check out the Keshi Surprise in Flesh Frankenghost,Teal Frankenghost and the ReAction Frankenghost!

I have a glow-in-the-dark Frankie POP- love the paint job on this one
ReplyDeleteTheir are some nice designs. I also have the Frankenstein's Monster POP! with the flower and the black light color design. It's from a few year's back and may have been a Walgreens exclusive if I'm remembering correctly.
