Happy Franksgiving! Charlie Franken-Brown from Peanuts by Just Play

I had so much fun with this year's 31 Days of Toy Terror Takes the Universe and such a great response that I wanted to continue. I'm still making my way through the Universal Studios classic horror films and decided I'd try to keep up the theme of Universal Monsters for November for no other reason than that I'm enjoying it. Today I'm looking at a little 3-inch figure of Charlie Franken-Brown, which is Charlie Brown dressed up as Frankenstein. I received him for my birthday a month or two ago and tried to work him into the countdown but it just didn't happen. He's from Five Below and was available as a single packed figure along with Snoopy as a Jack O'Lantern and Lucy as a cowgirl. I've also seen a pack of the three figures in one container online, but I don't know where that available from. It was released in 2022. This figure seems to have been released previously in resin with better paint applications, too. Being a big fan of Peanuts and the Universal Monsters, I thought this was a big win and a nice surprise for my birthday. I have the Super7 Franken Snoopy, too, so he'll go nice with that figure. Let's check out Charlie Franken-Brown after the break...

The Facts:

Height: 3 inches

Articulation: None

Accessories: None

Non-Scalper Price: $5 dollars

The Positives:

* There's no articulation here; just a simple figure of Charlie Brown dressed as Frankenstein's monster. While there appears to be one or two older versions of this same figure with more detailed paint details (such as the shirt under his jacket being painted and his treat pail getting some paint hits on the eyes, nose, and mouth), this one isn't bad for a five dollar figure that around 3 inches tall. I love how this is clearly Charlie Brown in a Halloween costume with makeup, a wig, and some old clothes.

* Charlie Brown's face is all painted up green and you can see that he's sporting bolts on his neck and a flattop wig with some staples attached. You can see his regular hair, too, as his wig sits back a bit. Of all the Frankenstein figures in my collection, this one is the Charlie Browniest.

* Good ol' Chuck's Jack O'Lantern pail is excellent. It's a neat sculpt that really seals the deal of this figure as an ideal Trick or Treater. I love how the face is actually "cut out" from the rest of the pail.

* While there's no articulation here (which is to be expected), I do love Charlie Brown's Frankenstein pose. He walking in an exaggerated manner with his arms out, definitely something you'd do when out Trick 'r Treating when dressed up as the monster.

This is a really fun little minifigure and, for $5 dollars, the price is right. I really love how Peanuts just blends so well with the holidays, particularly Halloween and Christmas, as they capture so many elements of what made those special times of the year fun and magical as a kid. This is a really fun version of Charlie Brown that pays tribute to one of the all time horror greats. Sure, it's not truly Frankenstein's monster, but Charlie Franken-Brown is still a pretty groovy ghoul. He's a Great little decoration or collectible and surely will score something better than a rock in this costume.

  1. Cute. Cool seeing Charlie Brown in a different costume. Maybe that year he didn’t get rocks!

    1. They actually seem to have been around for a few years now, though the single packs of these at Five Below seem to be new.
