Minifigure Review: Krampus (Blood Red) from Kaiju Kaos: Smackdown by Acheson Creations

While we're definitely late for Krampusnacht I still want to show off a cool new Krampus minfigure I picked up from Bailey Records. Krampus is a new addition to the Kaiju Kaos: Smackdown line, a line of hand cast resin minfigures that can be used as pieces for a board game. Krampus is available in multiple colors and I picked mine up in Blood Red, a fitting color for this old Christmas demon, don't you think? Let's check out Krampus after the break...

The Facts:

Height: 1 3/4ths inches

Sculpted by: Bryan K. Borgman/ Stratos

Non-Scalper Price: $4 dollars
 The Positives:

* The sculpt on Krampus is really, really sharp. It can be tough to see due to the glare on the bright red plastic but Krampus is really well designed and very clean. I love how hairy he looks! You can see his chains, too, which are a part of Krampus' traditional depictions.

* Krampus has a terrifying, demonic visage that looks incredible. The open mouth and teeth are easily visible and look fantastic! This is some great work!

* Since Krampus brings rods for bad children, Krampus comes with a whomping stick of his own. It looks very crude which fits Krampus' personality perfectly.
 The Negatives:

* I actually had to do a little bit of work to get this figure to stand up properly. As a resin figure, Krampus is harder than most minifigures you may be familiar with. My Krampus had slightly rounded soles on his feet, so I had to use a nailfile to even them out a bit and some heat to help position them flat. He stands just fine now but it did take a little bit of work.

I really liked the look of this figure so I checked out Bailey Records and ended up buying quite a few of the minifigures they offer. Their prices are pretty reasonable for hand cast resin minifigures and the products are very high quality. While I was a little frustrated at first that I had to do some work to get Krampus to stand, I'm happy with the results. He's a Good and a 1/2 minfigure and a fun little way to add a little bit of fright to any Christmas display.

This is the first toy of Krampus that I've reviewed on the site.
