Action Figure Review: Princess Cadance from My Little Pony Vinyl Collectibles by Funko

C'mon, it's not like this is the first colorful, winged horse I've reviewed on here.

I reviewed Princess Cadance's Husband, Shining Armor, earlier so now it's time to take a look at her. Her full name is Princess Mi Amore Cadenza but everyone knows her better as Princess Cadance. She's an Alicorn who is Princess Celestia's nice, the ruler of the Crystal Empire, and who was Twilight Sparkle's babysitter when he was younger. Princess Cadance is a "pre-exclusive" at Hot Topic, which means that she'll be available through other retailers at some point in the future. Like Shining Armor, I probably wouldn't have picked up Cadance on her own but the fact that she was on sale and I found both figures at the same time tipped my hand a bit. Ready to check this figure out? Then join me after the break...

The Facts:
Height: 5 inches (5 1/2 including her horn)

Articulation: None

Accessories: None

Non-Scalper Price: $18-$20 (I picked her up at a buy one get one 1/2 off sale at Hot Topic.)

*Princess Cadance is quite lovely! I really like the sculpt on her face, horn, and tiara. The paintwork on her eye is rather nice as is the work on her cutie mark. I really like the consistent style on this line between releases.

*Princess Cadance has a body sculpt that is rather different than the Mane 6 and other ponies we've seen in this line as her legs and body are much thinner and actually seem a bit longer. Her wings are also quite large and look great. She's definitely rather impressive looking and looks great next to Shining Armor.

The Negatives:

*One of the problems that I notice consistently on these vinyl figures with more paintwork is that details such as multi-colored hair tend to look very messy. While you wouldn't want to display Cadance showing her right side, due to it hiding her eyes and face, it's still a shame that her hair is so messy.

Cadance is not a terrible My Little Pony Vinyl Collectible but she's not one of my favorites, either. She looks fine but I personally just don't find her very exciting. I'm sure she's got plenty of fan out there, though, and I hope the sloppy paint applications on her hair don't mar the figure too terribly for them. In the end I'm giving her an Eh and a 1/2. This one is for completists only in my book.

I've reviewed a few other figures from this line, including:
Discord
Fluttershy
Rarity
Shining Armor
Trixie Lulamoon
