Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Toy company makes a Lois Lane toy! Yes, I know there have been a few before (DC Collectibles released a Superman: The Animated Series Lois Lane figure in a 2-pack with Superman recently) but it's a pretty unusual occurrence. Since the women are the stars of the show in DC Comics Bombshells, however, Lois Lane absolutely gets a figure here. Giving Lois the design of an old fashion street corner newspaper seller is a pretty cool idea as it gives the character a period-era costume that connects with her most well known features. Of course, Lois Lane did appear in the 1940s in various ways and this isn't all how she looked. I do think I prefer this design, though. It's a lot cooler. Let's take a closer look after the break...
The Facts:
Height: 3 inches
Articulation: None
Accessories: Metal storage canister
Non-Scalper Price: $10 dollars
* Like most other figures in this series, Lois has some excellent paintwork and a terrific sculpt. There's a lot of character here, particularly in the pose.
* If you look closely you can even see that the copy of the Daily Planet that Lois is holding up features a story and a photograph of Supergirl! There's even a little byline that gives Lois Lane's name.
* I'll give the same spiel about the price and the container that I
gave with earlier figures in this line: I don't usually talk much about
price but l feel the need to mention that for around $10, these seem a
couple of dollars too high for a blind-bagged series. Well,
blind canned. Yeah, these actually come in little tins with removable
lids. It's a cool gimmick although I imagine it's what is adding the
extra few bucks to the line. The tin is quite nice, though, and looks
good on display with the figure. There's even a checklist on the back.
While she's one of the less extravagant designs, I love the design of Lois Lane as an old timey street journalist. I guess that's a thing, right? A street journalist? That's kind of how she comes off in the Bombshells comic series. As a minifigure, Lois is excellent. She's a Great and a 1/2 minifigure and well worth tracking down. There's definitely something very cool about a miniature Lois Lane holding up a copy of the Daily Planet. While it seems unlikely that Mattel will release an Amy Adams Lois Lane from the DCEU, it's nice to know someone out there is bringing the character to your toy shelf!
I haven't reviewed any other Lois Lane toys on the site. I have reviewed plenty of other DC Comics LIl Bombshells figures, though, including:
