I only picked up three figures from The Naughty or Nice Collection last year and today I'm checking out the weirdest and creepiest of them: Zombie Santa. Listen, Zombie Santa is pretty cool. He's a green, zombified Santa. I have at least a shelf of zombie action figures and he'd look just fine up there, maybe as some random guy dressed like Santa Claus who has been turned into one of the living dead. It wasn't the zombie Santa that sold me, however; it was the alternate Evil Santa portrait that comes with this figure. That's the guy you see in the picture above and it's a design that makes this perhaps the creepiest action figure of 2022. Whether you want a Zombie Santa or an Evil Santa, Fresh Monkey Fiction has you covered. Let's check this guy out after the break...
The Facts:

* As I've mentioned in my other reviews of this line, reuse is the name of the game these days, and the first series has lots of different Santas all using the same base body. Fortunately, Fresh Monkey Fiction has designed an excellent "Santa Claus" body and they've doctored it up in some rather creative ways. While Zombie Santa is wearing your standard red and white Santa suit, it's not vivid red. Instead, it looks a bit worn and faded. It's also covered with blood and some other mysterious fluids. Zombie Santa has green skin, too, and his hands are grasping for whomever he can get to spread a little holiday fear. 💀💀💀
* The headsculpt is really gruesome here. He's a green zombie with lots of dark splotches under his eyes, rips and tears in his skin, and a missing nose. His gums are missing, too. That means someone literally ripped his lips off! This is a pretty grotesque headsculpt! Lots of blood and everything smeared around for your pleasure!
* Swap out the hands and head and you've got a second figure: Evil Santa Claus! There is something just absolutely disturbing about this figure and I'm loving it. The neck is painted green, yes, but it's actually almost fully hidden by Evil Santa's beard, so it's not really an issue. I remember as a kid there was an urban legend about some guy dressed like Santa Claus who went out every Halloween night to kill one kid out trick or treating. There's just something disturbing about the idea of an evil Santa, right? This guy is a maniac.
* His headsculpt is freaking me out. Those eyes are really wicked and just kind of stare right into your soul. Yikes! His ears give him more of an elf-like appearance, clearly inhuman. You'd better call Sgt. Santa to take care of this chap...
* There's a standard Santa hat that can go with either Zombie Santa or Evil Santa. It's a great sculpt with some fantastic detail on the white fluffy parts.
* The blood and other stuff on the Santa suit here is really nicely applied. And by really nicely, I mean it's pretty close. It looks fairy realistic, definitely not just like red paint smeared on the figure.
* We've seen these boots on the other Santas in this line but they're still really, really cool. Maybe a bit too clean for Zombie Santa, though. Still, the sculpt is excellent.
* Whether you've got him as a zombie or an axe wielding madman, this a big guy, so don't expect him to be pulling off any ninja moves or yoga poses. For being a portly fellow, though, the articulation is excellent. The joints all feel very sturdy and have a nice range of motion to them. Again, no Kung Fu fighting or anything, but this body is expressive and fun to mess around with. He's a very solid, durable feeling figure with some real heft to him. He looks menacing and can take some solid zombie poses, so not much to complain about here.
* Last up is the standard display stand that everyone in this line comes with. It's a very bright white (almost a snow white) and it has two pegs for keeping this naughty Santa Claus figure standing. He's a big guy with big boots, so he doesn't really need a stand, but it's still always welcome to have one. The "Naughty or Nice" logo is also on the stand, which is pretty cool.
I've received a lot of toys from Santa Claus but the only other toys of Santa Claus I've reviewed are Sgt. Santa from The Naughty or Nice Collection and the Nightmare Before Christmas Metalfigs Santa Claus from the 20 Pack Figure Collectors Set.

Wave 1 of NoN series have been nice, but Wave 2 will be really great. I will take a Nothern Santa, a Great Santa and a Father Frost from Wave 2. From Wave 1, Cyborg Santa, Sergeant Santa and this Zombie Santa will be great aditions to my Santarmy. Keep it up with the reviews, yours are the best!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I appreciate your comment! I've got a preorder for Northern Santa, Mall Santa, Checkin it Twice, and Father Frost. There are a few others I like, so I may shift things around a bit before next Christmas.
