Barbecue's Bonfire: My Halloween Movie Watchlist Thus Far

Just for fun here is my list of horror movies I've watched so far this season:

Child's Play
Child's Play 2
Child's Play 3
Christine
Ernest Scared Stupid
Friday the 13th Part 2
Halloween 2
Halloween 3: Season of the Witch
Halloweentown
Halloweentown 2: Kalabar's Revenge
Monster Family
The Witch (2015)

I might be missing a few that I've watched, so I'll add to it as I go. Watched anything good this season?

  1. I watched Finding Neverland. Does that count?

    1. I seem to recall that movie being pretty decent, so nope. I don't think so! If you'd like a film about killer children's literature, go watch The Babadook!

  2. I've (re)watched Beetlejuice, Monstwr House, Coraline, Hocus Pocus, and Over the Garden Wall so far. I do Halloween movies, not full-blown horror movies.

    1. I've never seen Monster House, though it has been recommended to me. What's Over the Garden Wall? Never heard of that! Beetlejuice and Coraline are two of my favorites! Coraline is also a favorite of my daughters (but she's too young for Beetlejuice).

    2. Over the Garden Wall is a Cartoon Network miniseries with a Wonderland-style spooky folk America setting. It's very spooky and very creative and surprising. It's something I'd genuinely call a masterpiece, and I recommend it to anyone.

    3. That sound pretty interesting. Is it fairly kid friendly?

    4. Yes. It's plenty engaging for kids, but has the writing quality and depth that makes it just as good for adults.

    5. Where is it available to watch? Not on Netflix or Hulu, right?

    6. I have it on good old-fashioned DVD, so I don't know about streaming services.

    7. I'm going to have to check this out, then. Thanks for the info.

  3. The Witch...is that the one set in, uh, colonial times in America? The one with the farmer and his family who left their village (or were driven out for some reason)?

One of my all-time Halloween standards would have to be Night Of The Livng Dead. George Romero really put together a masterpiece with that one.

    1. Yes. It's about a family driven outside of the settlement due to a religious dispute. It is a very, very good movie but definitely one of those movies that is better if you go in knowing less about it. It's quite creepy but definitely a more character driven film as well.

    2. The Witch was one movie that really got my goat, so to speak, but in a good way.

    3. Haha. Yes, it was very creepy, very atmospheric, and very tense. I really liked it.
