Charlotte MiniCon Haul: Harley Quinn #66 from POP! Heroes by Funko

Another POP! review? Another Harley Quinn review? You'd better believe it! While I say over and over that I'm not a huge collector of POP! figures, well, I just keep buying them, don't I? Today I'm looking at another toy that I picked up at the Charlotte MiniCon during the last weekend in January: Harley Quinn #66 from Funko's POP! Heroes line. While she's rather generically called Harley Quinn #66, this is Harley in her latest roller derby influenced outfit from Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti's recent Harley Quinn title (which is very, very fun and hilarious). Ready for a closer look at the new Harley Quinn? She's a member of a roller derby team! She's a landlord! She practices psychiatry! And she's done with the Joker! Check out this empowered new antihero after the break...

 The Facts:

Height: 3 3/4 inches

Articulation: Swivel head.

Accessories: None

Non-Scalper Price: $10 dollars
The Positives:

* Harley sticks to the form of most human POP! figures where the face is pretty nondescript and with the hair and costume really bringing out the essence of the character. Harley does have some darker eye shadow and long eyelashes, though, plus a little nose that definitely helps this to feel like Harley. Of course, she also has the pale white skin that's part of her look in the New 52 and current DC canon.
 * As mentioned above, now that Harley's away from the Joker she's living her life to the fullest, part of which includes joining a roller derby team. Harley's still using her trademark giant mallet but she's also decked out in some clothes that are more appropriate in showing off at a roller derby match. First of all, she wearing traditional roller skates and knee high socks, although they're colored with her trademark mismatched black and red color scheme. He's also got some shoulder pads and heavy duty gloves on.

* Here's a view of the back of the figure. You can see that the color scheme and diamond influenced pattern from her original outfit are continued here as well. There's also a better view of the pistol she's packing on her right hip and the laces for her corset like top.
 The Negatives:

* My only complaint about this POP! is that Harley's red and black hair has some odd scuffs on it. Can you see them? She was like this right out of the package, which is a little disappointing.
Harley's a really cute POP! I love Conner and Palmiotti's work on this book and I'll pick up any reasonably priced representation of the character in this new costume. While you know that I collect Batgirl stuff, if I could afford to collect statues and high end collectibles of another character if would definitely be Harley Quinn. I'm not sure the character has ever had a bad look; she just makes everything work for her! This is a fun POP! although due to her thinner frame she does have some trouble standing if her head's a little off center. Fortunately, fiddling with the neck fixes that up pretty well. She's a Good and a 1/2 POP! and well worth tracking down if you're a fan of the character. I've been contemplating starting a shelf of Harley POP! variants. We'll see how that goes....

If you're looking for more Harley Quinn reviews, I've looked at the Imaginext The Joker & Harley Quinn, the Suicide Squad Harley Quinn, Batman: The Animated Series Harley Quinn, and the roller derby Harley Quinn from DC Collectibles, and the S.H. Figuarts Harley Quinn (Injustice Version). Oh, and the Arkham Asylum Lego set. If you're more interested in Dr. Harleen Quinzel, I've reviewed the Arkham Origins Harleen Quinzel.

    1. I'm keeping my eyes open! Next time I find one I'll probably snag it. I'd love to at least have one classic Harley and one from each of the three main Arkham title. A Dr. Quinzel would totally sell me, too.
