Action Figure Review: Tung Lashor from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe by Super7

    Today I'm writing my first review of one of the figures from the Filmation inspired He-Man and the Masters of the Universe line. Mattel began this sub-line of Masters of the Universe Classics in 2016 as Club Grayskull and Super7 picked it back up and continues to release new figures. Tung Lashor is from the recently released second series of figures under Super7 and I picked him up because, unlike most of the figures which are more simply styled versions of already existing figures, Tung Lashor looks incredibly different from his vintage and MOTUC counterparts. I do own a few figures from Mattel's offerings but this is my first of Super7's Filmation based entries. Being that it's my first, I will say I'm not too thrilled. This figure has some real problems. I've largely been happy with Super7's MOTUC offerings, as figures like Karg, Wrap Trap, and Quakke have been fantastic, though there have been some weaker offerings (Granita and Hawke come to mind). I did want to give Tung Lashor a chance since he looks so unique, though, plus this version of Tung Lashor is affiliated with the Horde rather than the Snake Men like the vintage figure, so he can be displayed with a completely different faction, too! Let's get the full scoop after the break...

 The Facts:

Height: 6 7/8ths inches

Articulation: Swivel/ hinge ankles, boot swivels, hinged knees, swivel thighs, swivel/hinge hips, swivel waist, hinged mid-torso, swivel/hinge shoulders, bicep swivels, hinged elbows, swivel hinge/ wrists, and a ball jointed head.

Accessories: Two interchangeable heads, pistol, and rocket pack.

Non-Scalper Price: $35 dollars

 The Positives:



* The colors and design of the figure definitely do look like the Filmation depiction of Tung Lashor. Super7 has continued with Mattel's approach of making the figures in this line very "flat" looking and very basic with few sculpted details or flourishes. He does have the large red Horde logo on his chest, though it too is rather simple and unadorned.

* Tung Lashor has the full range of articulation including swivel/hinge wrists and ankles and boot swivels. He does feel quite sturdy and is fun to play with. His knees are a bit too tight, but a little play can loosen them up just fine.

* Tung Lashor has two interchangeable heads. The first is a basic head with a closed mouth (I'll get it in a second) while the second, shown here, has a slightly open mouth with his tongue flowing out. It looks pretty cool and is fitting considering that Tung Lashor always wanted to use his tongue for everything in She-Ra: Princess of Power.

 * Tung Lashor includes a rocket pack that he flies around on in the Filmaton cartoon. It too is a simple sculpt with basic paintwork, but it's an accessory and it fits on his back via a peg. Again, having a bit more detail would have been nice but it does match what's shown in the cartoon.

* Tung Lashor also includes this very cool laser pistol. It has a great sculpt and the figure looks nice wielding this accessory.

 The Negatives:

* Let me start off by saying that this figure suffers from lots of noticeable quality control issues related to the paint and plastic. Tung Lashor's main head has some messed up paintwork on his eyeballs and random blue paint and scuffs all over his head. What gives? I'm not the only person to have these issues, either, so mine doesn't seem to be a one-off fluke.

* This is the bottom of the alternate head for Tung Lashor (the one with the extended tongue) and here you can see some sort of damage to the plastic. What is this? It doesn't scratch off, so it seems to be a defect in the plastic or something. Little spots like this can be found in various places on the figure.

* Tung Lashor's waist is a mess. I'm not a big fan of how the swivel thighs sit so high and get stuck on the loincloths but here you've got a warped loincloth and some errant brown paint splattered about. Yikes!

   It might sound harsh but I'm giving Tung Lashor a dreaded Crap and a 1/2 rating. The heads have some serious paint flaws and plastic damage, the waist is a mess, the figure is very lightly accessorized, and Super7 is charging $35 bucks a piece for these. I don't care that they're a smaller company: They're still charging nearly twice what a Marvel Legends, NECA, or Star Wars: The Black Series figure costs. This guy is just an overpriced disaster. Avoid him like the plague unless you are the most die-hard, hardcore of completests.
