Collectible Review: Battle Cat from Geeki Tikis by Beeline Creative Inc.

I've long been familiar with the pop culture adorned Tiki mugs offered by Geeki Tiki and other similar brands but I can't say I ever really had a desire to own any until I saw the promos for the Masters of the Universe mugs over at He-Man.org. Almost immediately I preordered the full set of six. The set includes He-Man, She-Ra, Skeletor, Orko, Mer-Man, and Battle Cat, and it's Battle Cat I'm reviewing today. I don't have any plans to drink out of these (although they're truly made for that purpose) but instead they'll be a fun and unique part of my Masters of the Universe collection. Ready to take a dive into the South Pacific inspired Tiki culture? Then join me after the break...

The Facts:

Height: 7 1/2 inches

Capacity: 14 fl oz.

Material: Ceramic

Non-Scalper Price: $20-$30 dollars

The Positives:

* I've never reviewed a Tiki mug before so forgive me if I make errors (there are totally websites for collecting Tiki mugs, including the very cool The Search for Tiki) that go against the Tiki collecting community. I love the style and design of these! Battle Cat looks amazing cast in a yellowish green ceramic. While some of the MOTU Geeki Tikis have paint applications Battle Cat doesn't, though I kind of think the mugs without paint apps look the best. The sculpted detail conveys the idea of a wooden image and you can see decorative flourishes on his paws that evoke a tiki sculpture.

* Battle Cat's fearsome visage is really nicely done here, especially the detail of his mask. I'm also loving his teeth and the insides of his mouth. There's a lot of detail on these and yet there's kind of a minimalist aesthetic, too. They're quite lovely!

* On the sides of Battle Cat you can see more of the wooden carving like lines and etches and more of his arms. The claws on his back paws are also quite pronounced and very, very cool.

* From the rear you can see Battle Cat's saddle, his tail, and the hole in the mug where your drink goes. The interior is red, which is kind of fitting since Battle Cat wears red armor. He also bleeds red when you cut him, I suppose, but I believe Battle Cat spends more time making others bleed than bleeding himself.
I love collecting different Masters of the Universe stuff and these Giki Tikis by Beeline Creative Inc. are really, really nice. I've seen the price fluctuate a bit but I used a discount code from Toynk and got the full set of six for a decent price. I love the color and design on them. Battle cat is just gorgeous and he's really one of my favorites in the set. I'd give him a Great rating! Again, I just plan to let them chill out on a shelf in my MOTU collection admiring their incredible design and Batttle Cat is perfect for that. That greenish yellow is just such a lovely shade for him! Beautiful work here!

I love Battle Cat/ Cringer and I've reviewed a few other Battle Cat toys: The M.U.S.C.L.E. Battle Cat, the VYNL Prince Adam and Cringer, the Pint Size Heroes Battle Cat, the ReAction He-Man and Battle Cat, the Mega Construx Battle Cat Vs. Roton set, the POP! Rides He-Man on Battle Cat #84 and the Battle Cat on the He-Man POP! Tees shirt, the MOTU Colorforms Deluxe Play Set, the Masters of the Universe Origins Battle Cat, and the Loyal Subjects' Battle Cat and Battle Cat (Flocked).

    1. They're really well done and seem to be of a super nice quality. I definitely see the appeal of collecting these. I'm going to review all of them so I'll definitely be showing off the rest of the set in the days ahead.
