It's been well over a year since I last reviewed a Cosmic Legions figure from Four Horsemen Studios though, to be fair, there haven't been many released until this fall (just a few convention exclusives) when OxKrewe, Book One: Thraxxon dropped. Ever since these were first revealed well over a year ago (PowerCon 2023!), I knew that Kurnn Ray was going to be my first purchase. What can I say? I love the characters like this who appear like scavengers, bounty hunters, or just space drifters. There is a loose story in Cosmic Legions and the most recent series centers on the OxKrewe, a team of six survivors of the Qorgonox, a ship that has crashed on the planet Thraxxon. Kurnn Ray isn't a member of the OxKrewe, though; she's a member of the mysterious Scapehaven, apparently a crew of bandits and scavengers operating in the wastelands of Thraxxon. We know little about the group but it seems they're the villains of this series of releases. Ready to check out Kurnn Ray? Then join me after the break...

The Positives:
* Here's Kurnn Ray underneath her coat, shoulder pads, and giant freaking helmet. Her outfit is very impressive though it clearly is a mish-mash of different gear she's accumulated over time. Heavy leather boots, gloves, and perhaps even her shirt offer extra protection. Her arms are bare, showing off the interesting pattern on her skin. Kurnn is an Athocrian (like the Hvalkatar prison guard, Slygor Ryz), so this seems to be a normal part of their appearance. She's also sporting a collar of some sort. Maybe it's intended to help hold on her massive helmet or maybe it's left over from some spacefarer she's plundered it from? There's a lot of paint detail here and you'll be impressed by how nearly every rivet on the outfit gets a paint application. You can definitely see the difference in a direct market, collector targeted figure like this from a mass market collector figure in the detailed paint work.
* Check out Kurnn Ray's pauldrons! They're incredible looking with so many paint applications and neat little details. Both of them have cables attached to them, so I wonder what they do?
* The left pauldron is really impressive with lots of gear on their. Maybe control equipment for her massive observation helmet? I think this pauldron has more unique paint applications than most Marvel Legends figures!
* Let's wrap up this outfit by checking out Kurnn Ray's coat. It is incredible and just makes the figure one of the best looking figures in this line. I love the charcoal color, though it's "stained" with some dirt and debris from the surface of Thraxxon. The pockets are actually functional, too. How about that? It's pretty easy to take on and off, too, so you can change up her look within just a minute or so.
* Here's a shot from the back to see more of the coat, the functional belt, and the cool details on the padded sleeves and collar. The tailoring here is of a very high quality and you'll be impressed when you have it in hand.
* The bottom and side edges of the coat are wired for posing, as is the belt. Yup! You can really get some dramatic looking poses here with the coat and belt blowing in the breeze. Exceptional stuff. The rest of the figure is also quite well articulated. The articulation model might be a bit outdated due to the design of this line and it's interchangeability with all of the previous figures from Mythic Legions and such, but she's durable and does look good in most poses.
* Six hands are included, all of which swapped out easily for me. There is a pair of standard grips with vertical hinges, a pair of pistol grips, and a pair of standard grips with horizontal grips. Lots of options and the rivets on the leather gloves are even painted.
* I don't recognize Kurnn's weapon from any other figures so it seems unique to her. It's a very cool bladed staff with lots of wires, wraps around the handle, and detailed greeblies and such. It's a neat scavenger weapon for close quarters combat.
* A standard pair of binoculars of some sort are included. Interestingly, the binocular harness is a separate piece that connects to the bottom of the binoculars, allowing you to have them still around Kurnn's neck whether she's just got them resting or is actively using them. I guess they're a backup in case her crazy headgear isn't functioning properly.
* The antenna can attach to either side of the backpack, probably allowing her to send information and communications back to the rest of Scapehaven.
Wow! Kurnn Ray is the only figure I've grabbed from the most recent Cosmic Legions release to date and she might be my favorite figure in the line overall. I can't believe how well everything comes together here! The design, the soft goods, the paint work; nothing feels like it was half done or just by the numbers; this is one of the coolest, most high quality action figures I've ever owned. It's imaginative and just plain cool! I've enjoyed cherry picking in Cosmic Legions and Kurnn Ray is pretty much the cherry on the top in this line. She's an Epic figure and one of the highlights of 2025 overall. Don't be surprised if she shows on on one of my best of 2025 lists.
