Trick or Treat Through 31 Days of Toy Terror: Michael Myers from Squishmallows by Jazwares

Michael Myers again? Yup. Michael Myers again. The man is synonymous with Halloween and I'm usually a pretty easy mark for most Michael Myers items that are on the affordable side. During a shopping trip to Five Below back in early September I stumbled upon this Michael Myers Squishmallow and I just had to have it. My daughter has never been too into Squishmallows (I think she has a couple of the Pokemon ones and maybe a random one or so) but her best friend is all about them, so I've seen Squishmallows around my house over the past number of years. I've never owned any myself, but old Michael Myers was just too irresistible. He's cute and squishy, too. Why is Michael Myers cute and squishy? I don't know. I guess because of Halloween and Halloween nuts like me. I think there's a larger version of this guy who's probably around 8 inches tall and much wider and squishier, so this might be a smaller, less expensive option exclusive to Five Below (but don't quote me on that). Ready for a snuggly buddy to watch Halloween with? Or, more specifically, Halloween 2. Because this guy is noted as being from 1981's Halloween 2 rather than the original 1978 film, I guess you can only watch the Universal released films with him. Just kidding! Once he's yours you can watch any of them you want with Michael Myers on your lap. Ready to get squishy and spooky? Then join me after the break...

The Facts:

Height: 6 1/2 inches

Composure: Squishy!

Non-Scalper Price: $6 dollars

The Positives:

* Squishmallows are adorably overstuffed and quite cute. I see them at stores all the time and, like I mentioned above, my daughter has a couple and her best friend has a ton. Michael Myers seems to feel like the rest as he's squishy and shaped kind of like an egg. They're supposed to be in the Japanese inspired kawaii style, so this is a cutesy plush version of a spree killer. Wild!

* Considering that "The Shape" has been condensed down into a toy form with a rather simple shape, he's pretty detailed. The ...embroidery? Stitching? I don't know what you'd call it, but his arms, boiler suit, knife, and mask features are all detailed and noticeable. There's a surprising amount of detail on his coveralls, which is quite impressive.

* Considering the shape and style of the product, I think the face is pretty solid, too. His mask has enough detail to get the point across, but it's still pretty shapeless and void. Just an impression of a face, lifeless with cold, black eyes. The devil's eyes.

* Check out the little silvery shadows up here. That's an interesting design choice and I actually really like it. The designer clearly out some thought and effort into this and  appreciate it. It's like there's a bit of shadow or a slight reflection on his mask.

* I'm impressed that the knife is included. I honestly wouldn't have been shocked if Michael Myers hadn't come with a knife. Honestly, the Jack O' Lantern would have been a fine choice, too, but Jazwares surprised me and went all out. Yes, he has a knife stitched onto his squishy self. Do you think we'll ever get more Halloween Squishmallows? Will there ever be a squishy, cuddly Donald Pleasance for us to hug?

* From the back you can see that the designer even made sure to include the back fo the mask's hairline and the collar, rear pockets, and elastic waistband of the coveralls. They definitely didn't have to go this hard but they did.

The Negatives:

* You might have to squint to see this, though it's more noticeable in person, but do pay attention that you check in stores if you can for any loose threads. Mine has a loose silver thread on his lips. Some small scissors will probably take care of that, but just watch out if you're looking for the best of the best.

This Michael Myers Squishmallow is excellent. This is seriously a fun toy and I'm really glad to have stumbled upon it in the wild while out and about. I get a kick out of toys based on properties that really aren't kid friendly and having a little Michael Myers buddy is a treat. He's fun, squishy, and instantly recognizable. Whether you collect Michael Myers stuff and horror items, collect Squishmallows, or whether you're just looking for something to out near your candy bowl this season, this is a Great and a 1/2 little treat of Haddonfield's most infamous son.
