Spooky Season: Rhonda from Trick 'r Treat Figural Bag Clips by Monogram International

A weekend or two ago my wife and I took a daytrip to check out one of the Spirit stores within an hour or two of us and I ended up bringing home some really nifty Trick 'r Treat Figural Bag Clips from Monogram International. I've reviewed most of their Masters of the Universe bag clips in the past though I think this is the first time that I've reviewed one from another property. I really love how Trick 'r Treat has become such a staple of the Halloween season and Spirit stores are always a good place to find a Trick 'r Treat item or two. While Sam is always the most popular character, it's kin of fun how these bag clips offer up a more diverse range of characters and items from the film. Today I'm checking out Rhonda, posed in the elevator carriage while holding a jack o' lantern to keep her safe from the angry victims of the Halloween School Bus Massacre. Trick 'r Treat has so many interesting characters who we only get to see for such a short time and Rhonda (played by Samm Todd) has always been one of my favorites. The victim of a cruel bank by some classmates, Rhonda is nuts about Halloween and jack o' lanterns and and is one of those who treats the holiday with the proper respect. The kids in the film use some offensive and outdated terms to refer to her, but it seems that she has savant syndrome and may be on the autism spectrum. I really like Rhonda in the movie and this was possibly the main figure I wanted from the set. Fortunately, the huge elevator carriage makes this an easier one to track down inside of the blind bags. Ready for an early treat? Then join me after the break...

The Facts:

Height: 2 3/4ths inches (including elevator carriage)

Articulation: None

Accessories: None

Non-Scalper Price: $7-8 dollars

The Positives:

* Monogram International could have just done Rhonda in her witch costume but they opted to portray her in the old elevator car, holding a jack o' lantern in front of her to keep back the risen dead. It's quite a cool effects this bag clip much larger than the rest of the series. Rhonda isn't removable from the cage, though if you really wanted to I believe you could cut her out if you need Rhonda just on her own. Personally, I think the presence of the elevator car makes things more interesting.

* Here's a closer look at Rhonda between the bars of the elevator door/ grate. While these bag clips are cutesy and stylized, Rhonda is pretty recognizable if you now who she's supposed to be. You know what I mean: If someone completely unfamiliar with the saw her they'd just think "girl in witch costume in a cage," but those familiar with the movie can appreciate the hair, the witch hat, and the facial expression. That's a neat looking jack o' lantern, too.

* The elevator carriage is pretty substantial and carries all the way around to the back of the figure. The bars are very elastic and rubbery, but they do seem to hold their shape quite well.

* The metal clip here is so you can hang Rhonda and the elevator car from something:  A backpack, satchel, purse. You name it. I actually display these on hooks that I've attached to the front of some shelves.

Is this the most exciting little blind bagged item on the market right now? No, of course not. At the same time, as a huge fan of Trick 'r Treat it's pretty cool to have this little collectible of Rhonda from a very memorable scene. I'm pretty sure the Halloween School Bus Massacre storyline is my favorite that runs through the movie and it's filled with some of my favorite imagery. This is a Good and a 1/2 little collectible for what it is. I  kind of wish the clips were more easily removable but I've come up with a way to display these alongside my jack o' lantern and Sam collection, so I'm good. Have you been to a Spirit store yet? Picked up anything cool so far? October is quickly approaching but the spooky season has already started....

This is the first collectible of Rhonda I've reviewed.
